New interview with George R. R. Martin

There is a new Q&A with GRRM at smartertravel.com. Here's a teaser regarding The Winds of Winter:

There were a lot of cliffhangers at the end of A Dance with Dragons. Those will be resolved very early. I'm going to open with the two big battles that I was building up to, the battle in the ice and the battle at Meereen—the battle of Slaver's Bay. And then take it from there.

Love Martin but the troubling thing about the quote in your post is the "I'm going to" part. DwD's came out 9 months ago.

Not including the two battles in ADWD is probably the worst decision he ever made. The book ended up feeling really anticlimactic, when it could have probably ended up feeling more like ACOK.

I don't see how this series can be finished in less than 8 books.
